Soulcalibur V (ソウルキャリバーV Sourukyaribā Faivu) is the sixth installment of Namco's Soul series of fighting games and was released on January 31, 2012 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America. It was released on February 2, 2012 in Japan and Europe. Digital editions were also released on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live on April 23, 2013.

Soulcalibur V had been teased about since late 2010 when Daishi Odashima, the game director, tweeted that "SC is back!". The game was officially announced May 11, 2011 at their Level Up Press Conference in Dubai. The character roster consists of 28 characters, half of which could be considered new characters. The game allows the characters to fight in more than 20 stages. Project Soul released the game on January 31, 2012 in the US and February 2nd, 2012 in Japan and Europe.
The game takes place during the 17th century, 17 years after the events of Soulcalibur IV, with Nightmare's death by the hands of Siegfried. The main protagonist is Patroklos and the deuteragonist is Pyrrha, son and daughter of Sophitia and Rothion Alexander and nephew and niece of Cassandra Alexandra.
Waking up, Patroklos is once again reunited with his sister. Despite her being malfested, he is ready to accept her the way she is, just like their mother would have, and together, they banish both soul swords in the Astral Chaos and close the rift.
This pack is available via the Collector's Edition or the PSN Soulcalibur V Legendary Edition. Unlike SC4's Limited Edition DLC, you cannot obtain this from other region DLC (SC4 LE pack is obtainable from regular EU PSN Store). The Dark Knight set is mainly single-colored, save for a few additional spots such as the tiny round crystal and glove color. Unless you want to make a knock-off Sauron from Lord of the Rings, you will find few use of the Dark Knight Set. On the other hand, the White Knight set is dual-colored (base and lining) and the set itself looks great, especially the Arms and Greaves.VERDICT: WORTH IT
Algol, the Hero King, is the final boss in the game Soul Calibur IV, and is the creator of Soul Calibur. Algol wields both Soul Edge and Soul calibur . He is also said to hide ten distinct weapons in his body, like a cannon that forms around his hand.
The living incarnation of Soul Edge's pure, malevolent will. He is a brutally violent barbarian that loves nothing more than to kill and cause chaos in his wake as he collects the souls of his victims
Like the previous games in the series, Soulcalibur V is a weapon-based fighting game. Players use high and low vertical and horizontal attacks to damage opposing player characters and can block incoming attacks or parry enemies' moves to gain a tactical advantage. The game features a tweaked "Critical Edge" system, allowing players to fill up a meter and unleash powerful special attacks.
The game features a variety of gameplay modes. In Story Mode, players take control of the game's protagonist Patroklos and various supporting characters, guiding him through a series of battles divided into 20 episodes. Unlike previous installments, not every character is playable in Story Mode. The game's arcade mode allows players to control any of the game's characters and face six opponents in time trial matches. In addition, the game features Quick Battle mode, which allows players to unlock titles for their online profiles and an extra "Legendary Souls" mode. Like its predecessors, Soulcalibur V also sports variety of multiplayer modes, allowing players to face each other both online and offline. The character creation mode from previous games has also been retained.
Project Soul's Soulcalibur V came out back in 2012, but following the release of this maligned entry in the epic tale of the swords, the developers rebooted the series with Soulcalibur VI. Even now, after the release of the sixth entry, fans are debating whether Soulcalibur V was good. Being regarded as both the best and worst entry of the series simultaneously put a real hurt on the series, which is shown by the few references to the game that the latest installment makes. Soulcalibur V failed to impress players not just because of the legacy it missed, but because of time.
These factors led to a mixed reception from the fanbase and likely contributed to Project Soul's decision to take the newer entry back into the past. The cuts and time restraints took away some of the context for new things that would have explained what had happened in the 17 years since Soulcalibur IV, but new protagonist Patroklos was also not well received. While some loved his play style and tools, most found him a poor replacement for characters like Cassandra and Setsuka.
Looking at the game as a whole, while players were fans of the gameplay and the systems implemented, a lack of time and focusing less on legacy sealed the game's unfortunate fate. Soulclibur V was an ambitious title, but the narrow-focused story and the unexplained loss of characters hit the entry hard. Add in an oddly received protagonist and it becomes plain to see why the developers were so keen to move on. Everything combines to show us that it really was time and legacy that caused Soulcalibur V to fail.
